"Just a reminder in case your mind is playing tricks on you today: You matter. You’re important. You’re loved. And your presence on this earth makes a difference, whether you see it or not." ~Author unknown
Equipping You to Deliver Hope and Prevent Tragedy by Knowing What to Say When Someone is Contemplating Suicide
The current level of suicide prevention is not enough. Families of teenagers, community members, teachers & peers often feel ill-equipped to help a friend or loved one through a period of suicidal behavior. We must break the silence and make it socially acceptable to talk openly about suicide. We must being willing to share the stories of hope and resiliency!
Consider This:
-
In a given year, more than 5,000 young people nationally between the ages of 10-24 complete suicide.
-
Adolescent suicide is preventable.
-
Suicide is a public health crisis.
-
Suicide training and prevention techniques reduce rates of suicidality.
-
You can make a difference!
Parents, teachers, peers and faith communities play a vital role in addressing this epidemic of youth suicide and we must all do our part to be prepared in moments of crisis and be prepared to share the gift of hope, love and faith.
The question is: Are you making a difference? Are you doing your part?
